How Much Do Horse Show and Horse Competitions Cost?

Equestrian competitions vary from entry level, or ‘schooling shows’ (which means practice competition), to circuit competitions.

Circuit competitions hold horse/rider combinations to defined national (and sometimes international) set of standards depending on the sport and discipline riding.

"Schooling” (practice) Registration : $15-30 per class*

Circuit competitions Registration : $125-$250 per class*

*(typically at least 3 classes are entered)

In addition to entry fees, competition registrations usually have additional fees. Entry fees vary, but some show costs remain the same regardless of show type.

Registration fee: $25 (usually non refundable even if you cancel your entry)

Stabling fee: $25-50/day

Bedding: $5/bale of straw or bag of shavings

Camping fees : $20-40/night - tent/car camping is free, fee is for hook ups

Photography: $25 includes 1 image; additional for purchase

Videography fee: $125 for video

Total show / competition costs: $150-$1,850 / competition
